Sunday Express on Drive to Reduce Over-prescription of IVF Drugs
A petition spearheaded by the Sunday Express has received backing from MP Siobhan McDonagh for the HFEA Act to be amended to ensure adequate protection of women.
Its focus is currently on the protection of a child conceived through the IVF treatment with little attention given to the potential over-prescription of IVF drugs during the treatment which may put the woman at risk.
The known side-effects of fertility drugs to boost egg production include stomach pain, nausea, bloating and vomiting yet do not raise the chances of conception.
